What is an EICR?
EICR stands for ‘Electrical Installation Condition Report’, and includes an inspection to check that your electrical wiring system is compliant with the latest safety regulations. It will ensure that any electrical equipment that is used is also safe and will make sure that both your wiring and equipment have no damage or faults. It will also include a check to ensure that protective circuits are safely installed, such as RCDs (Residual Current Devices).
Why should I have an EICR?
It is a legal requirement for any property that is used for business, open to the public or privately rented, to have an up-to-date EICR that has been carried out by a qualified professional electrician. If you are a business owner or a landlord, you can be assured that we are proud of the excellent level of customer service we provide. All our electricians are fully qualified and experienced.
Increase the value of your home
An EICR may also increase the value of your property if you are putting it on the market, as this is a guarantee that the electrical systems in your property are safe and recently tested. This will offer peace of mind to any potential buyers. The frequency of EICR tests will vary, dependant on the type of property being tested. Construction sites need an EICR to be carried out every 3 months; a rental property needs one every 5 years.
