Keep your bathroom safe
It is obvious that any electrical system in a bathroom needs to be carefully and professionally installed to ensure that it is safe. All our electricians are experts and have up to date knowledge of the types of electrical products, such as lighting or sockets, that can be installed in the various electrical zones of the bathroom. These are designated according to how close they are to taps and showers.
Bathroom electric zones
Zones are designated from 0 - within the bath or shower; 1 – an area extending up to 1.2 metres from the bath or shower to 2 – from the edge of Zone 1 up to 2.25 metres. Each zone has specific requirements for lighting or sockets. An IP (Ingress Protection) rating shows how waterproof something is, such as an extractor fan or ceiling light. Higher ratings will be more suitable for bathrooms, as it will mean that the item is resistant to corrosion or developing a fault when wet.
Expert advice and guidance
Choosing the right lighting or a safe location for a shaver socket can be complicated – even choosing a mirror with lighting around it can be dangerous if it is installed in the wrong place. Fortunately, we are on hand to provide expert advice and guidance. We can also provide a free quote for any work that you would like carried out – that way you can be sure that all the electrical work in your bathroom is safe.
